I began my running career and obsession in 2012 when I signed up for the Disneyland Half Marathon. With barely any training beyond 4 miles a week for about 2-3 months, I definitely was not ready... But I wasn't about to give up on that hefty registration fee either. So I got up at 3AM, got to the starting line and for 13.1 miles of agonizing pain and tears, I crossed the finish line wondering why I hadn't done these events before. Flash forward to a year and I have since completed 10 half marathons and have more than a dozen planned for the rest of the year through 2014 & 2015! There are runners that do it for fitness and health, and there are runners that do it for the camaraderie , and then there's runners like me, that do it because we can eat and have fun. I'm doing this to have fun, and it's a win/win for everyone when it's doing so in a healthy & active lifestyle.
I've become so focused on the running community and the amazing new people I meet every single day that I had to be more involved. I'm a Brand Ambassador for the New Year's Race (message, tweet or email me for a VIP discount!). And I've taken it upon myself to work with charities and amazing organizations that work for causes that I truly support.
That is why I have begun to work with the ASPCA in running my first full marathon at Walt Disney World on January 12, 2014. I love animals and especially the work that the ASPCA does for them. Check out my story up above.
